‘CM’s arrogance taking a toll on development’

Bharatiya Janata Party State unit president Pralhad Joshi has alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s “arrogant attitude” is taking a toll on the economic growth and progress of Karnataka.

He told presspersons here on Tuesday that the Chief Minister failed to honour an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join his team to visit Japan recently. “He [Mr. Siddaramaiah] lost a golden opportunity to showcase Karnataka’s potential to attract investments from Japan.”

He alleged that the failure of the Congress government to utilise the funds allocated by the Union government for development works showed how the Chief Minister and the party were not interested in the progress of the people. During 2014-15, the State government utilised only 51 per cent of the budgetary allocations from the Centre till January-end.

Later, he inaugurated the party’s campaign for the gram panchayat elections.

The party had set up an 80-member team, who were touring the State to elicit voters’ support for the party’s candidates, Mr. Joshi added.
