CMC councillors seek protection from DC

Expressing fear of attacks from “those who have money and muscle power”, 13 councilors of Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC) have sought protection from the district administration.

The 35-member CMC has been witnessing a flurry of activities for the past several days with supporters of Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh trying to bring no-trust motion against the CMC president B. Siddaraju.

Thirteen councillors met the Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan recently and sought protection from him.

“Some people have been luring the CMC members with money, power and positions to defeat Mr. Siddaraju during the no-trust motion. They are forcing us to vote against Mr. Siddaraju during the no-trust motion,” they stated in the petition submitted to Mr. Nagabhushan.

The CMC has 15 Congress councillors, nine Janata Dal (Secular) members, 10 Independent councillors and a BJP member.
