‘CM must release White Paper on steps taken for SCs, STs and OBCs’

October 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HUBBALLI:

State vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party M. Nagaraj has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to release a White Paper on the initiatives taken and funds released by his government for the development and welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

Addressing presspersons along with BJP State Secretary N. Ravikumar and former MLA Virabhadrappa Halaharavi, Mr. Nagaraj said that Mr. Siddaramaiah, who came to power in the name of ‘Ahind’, had hardly done anything for the development and welfare of the communities for which he claimed himself to be the champion.

Mr. Nagaraj said that except giving false assurances, Mr. Siddramaiah had done nothing for the backward communities.

“If he has done anything then he should release a White Paper on the funds released and utilised for the purpose,” he said. Alleging that the Congress party had failed on every front, he said that the State government had failed to initiate any measure for the welfare of the slum dwellers and for providing facilities to them.

Tour from October 28

Mr. Nagaraj said that two teams of BJP leaders led by the former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and the former minister Govind Karjol would be touring all the districts of the State, starting from October 28 to November 8 from Bengaluru and Hubballi respectively.

Campaign launch

He said Govind Karjol, B. Sriramulu, Aravind Limbavali and others would be launching the campaign through a convention of SC/ST and OBCs at Gokul Garden in Hubballi on October 28.

Mr. Ravikumar said that around 4,500 SC/ST hostels in the State were in a poor condition and the government had done nothing to improve this.

Already, the BJP has conducted a survey and the comprehensive report would be submitted to the State government before the legislature session, he said.

Works suspended

Virabhadrappa Halaharavi said that development works sanctioned during the previous BJP-led government for the development of Dalit localities in Hubballi-Dharwad had been suspended for political reasons and demanded immediate steps to initiate the works.

The former MLA Ashok Katwe and others were present.
