‘CM confusing people over Kalasa-Banduri, IIT’

October 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Vijayapura:

K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of trying to hide his failures by creating confusion over issues such as the Kalasa-Banduri and the IIT.

Speaking to presspersons at Almatti village, before participating in Raitha Chaitanya Yatra launched by the BJP on Sunday, he said that when the Chief Minister failed to handle issues successfully, he started giving contradicting statements and blaming the BJP for the issues.

“Because of his contradictory statements, the issues of establishing IIT in the State have become contentious. Now, the people of Dharwad and Raichur districts are fighting for the IIT. The Chief Minister did not take a clear stand on the issues which led to this trouble,” Mr. Eshwarappa said.

The former Minister blamed the Chief Minister for the trouble in Dharwad district on the implementation of the Kalasa-Banduri project.Regarding farmers’ suicide in the State, Mr. Eshwarappa said that the Congress government had shown insensitivity in handling such a critical issue.

Claiming that this year alone, 515 farmers have committed suicide, Mr. Eshwarappa said that the government had given compensation to only 108 farmers.

He alleged that even the District in-charge Minister were not visiting villages.

Asked about speculations that the former Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa, was planning to return to State politics, Mr. Eshwarappa said that he would welcome any such decision.
