Classical music festival at Mattur, Hosahalli from tomorrow

‘Sangeetotsava-2015’, a music festival, will be held under the aegis of Sanketi Sangeet Sabha at Hosahalli and Mattur villages, near here, from May 12 to 20, said its president Venkataram.

Renowned musicians from across the State would provide performances during the festival. A music competition for youths would be held as part of the programme, he said at a press conference here on Saturday.

Music critic Suryaprakash will inaugurate the fest at Gamaka Bhavan at Hosahalli on May 12 at 5 p.m. Administrative officer of he Sringeri Sharada Peetham V.R. Gowrishankar will attend the inaugural function.

On May 12, vocalists Hariharan and Ashok will perform. R.K. Padmanabha will present a Veena concert on May 13.

A State-level music competition would be held for persons in the age group of 13 to 25 years from May 15 to 17, he said.

On May 18, Vinay Sharma will present a vocal concert at Bhajana Mandir at Mattur, followed by presentations by vocalists Ramakrishnamurthy and Mattur Gopal on May 19 and 20, respectively. The programmes will commence at 5.30 p.m. on all the nine days, he said.

Functionaries of the sabha Anantha Padmanabha, Keshavamurthy, Vishwanath and Raghuram were present.
