‘Civic staff unfamiliar with technology installed by JUSCO’

June 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Mysuru:

Though the citizens have been assured of restoration of normalcy in water supply in two days, the Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) has expressed fears that the manifestation of the crisis is due to the unfamiliarity of the local authorities in handling the technology used by JUSCO.

Bhamy V. Shenoy of the MGP said several residential areas in the city was being supplied water on alternate days despite the availability of bulk water. “This is mostly because of the lack of familiarity of MCC staff with the valves installed by JUSCO”, said Mr. Shenoy.

The MGP said if this could be the condition within few days of JUSCO handing over the supply to MCC, they shudder to think what will happen in the next few months.

The MGP has also written to the Karnataaka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) MD Manivanan that the billing system developed by JUSCO with expertise from TCS was being discarded in favour of the earlier system which existed in 2004.

The MCC Commissioner, however, said this was a transitional period and hence there were some hiccups but would be redressed.
