City to get 2,000 litter bins

Will be installed over the next 15 days

The civic administration has finally bit the bullet and is bringing back the green and blue bins. The BBMP plans to install 2,232 twin-litter bins in commercial areas, markets and slums over the next 15 days.

The programme will be inaugurated on Monday. “The goal is to prevent black spots in the city,” said a BBMP spokesperson.

Each bin will have a capacity of 200 litres. Prior to 2000, every corner of the city had dustbins, but they were removed as the civic administration adopted a no-bin policy and encouraged segregation at home.
