Chitradurga to get Rs. 100 cr. under AMRUT scheme

The Union government has selected Chitradurga city under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, G.H. Tippareddy, MLA, has said.

He told presspersons here on Sunday that the city would be developed with modern infrastructure.

As many as 500 cities across the country had been selected under the scheme and Rs. 4 lakh crore had been allocated for development. Chitradurga city would get Rs. 100 crore.

Aaitolu, Gollarhatti, Chikkalatti, Vaddarpalya and Kasavarhatti villages in the Chitradurga Assembly segment would be developed in the next few years under the Gram Vikas Yojana of the State government.

A sum of Rs. 3.75 crore would be spent on the scheme.

Work

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced that the work would commence from August 2.

The MLA said that the construction of 1,656 houses under the Rajiv Awas Yojana was under progress. A memorandum had been submitted to Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu to sanction 3,000 houses to Chitradurga to ensure shelter to the needy, he said.

Managing director of Ingaldal Copper Mines had promised that the company would restart the work in the next 10 months. The issue would be raised at the Belgaum session of the legislature too, Mr. Tippareddy added.
