Children’s film festival to kick off on November 14

The city will host the International Children’s Film Festival from November 14 to 20.

The films will be screened at Prabha, Woodlands and Sterling theatres.

Around 15 movies will be screened from 8.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The festival is being jointly organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Theatre-wise timetable

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha has asked officials from the Department of Public Instruction to ensure children from government schools, schools for the differently-abled, residential schools run by the Departments of Social Welfare and Backward Classes, Bala Mandir, schools for those rescued from child labour, watch the films.

Ms. Shikha directed the Department of Information and Public Relations in Mysuru to prepare a school and theatre-wise timetable for viewing, after discussions with the Departments of Public Instruction, Women and Child Development and Social Welfare.

Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations A.R. Prakash said the films were expected to motivate children to make exceptional achievements. Entry is free, he said.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction H.R. Basappa, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Radha, and representatives from the three theatres were present in the meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner. Diverse films had been identified for screening for children in the age group of 6 to 10 (primary) and 11 to 16 (high school).

The films listed for screening include Blue Tiger (Czech Republic); Journey to the Beginning of Time (Czech Republic); Gubbachigalu (Kannada); Cinderella Moon (China); Children of Heaven (Iran) and In the name of Sherlock Holmes (Hungary).
