Child marriage stopped in Bidar village

Following a tip-off, members of the Don Bosco child helpline and the district child protection committee stopped a child marriage at Gumma, a village in Bidar taluk, on Wednesday.

They also obtained a written promise from the parents of the bride that the girl would not be married off till she turned 18 years. Rev. Fr. Verghese of the helpline, Sudhakar Ellanor, counsellor, and M.A. Aleem, police officer, were among those present.
