The Common Entrance Test (CET) for engineering and other professional courses in the State will begin on Monday with the biology and mathematics papers. The physics and chemistry exams are scheduled for Tuesday, while the Kannada test will be on Wednesday.
The examinations were originally scheduled for April 23 and 24, but the State government decided to postpone them as the schedule clashed with the parliamentary elections.
A total of 1,94,311 students — 97,176 male and 96,585 female — have registered for the test, which will be held in 431 centres across the State, including 84 in Bengaluru. As many as 28,245 personnel will be deployed on examination duty. The Kannada language test for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will be held only in Bengaluru; 2,200 candidates have registered for it.
In a statement, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) said the OMR answer sheets were candidate-specific and pre-printed with the candidate’s admission ticket number (CET number) and the version code of the question paper booklet.
“Hence, the candidates have to confirm whether the CET numbers on the admission ticket and the answer sheet are the same, and whether the version code of the question paper booklet and that printed on the OMR sheet are the same,” the statement said.
Candidates are expected to be present at the examination centre half an hour before the bell.
