CCTV cameras to ensure student safety at hostels

Minister for Social Welfare Priyank Kharge has said that department-run hostels across the State will soon get facilities including CCTV cameras to ensure the safety of students. He was speaking to presspersons in Koiluru village in Yadgir district on Friday. He said most hostels were dealing with a lack of facilities that included toilets, drinking water and others. Therefore, a report on the same was prepared to bring changes providing required facilities according to guidelines, he added.

He also promised to install CCTV cameras in the hostels to prevent any untoward incident or crimes when it was brought to his notice that a PU girl student committed suicide in a hostel at Gurmitkal recently. Mr. Kharge said that officials have been directed to check CCTV footage to find out that how the incident was happened.
