The State government, which has been fighting a legal battle in the Supreme Court on the sharing of Cauvery waters, has spent Rs. 7.55 crore towards advocates’ fee and other court expenses from January 2007 till date.
The advocates’ team, led by Fali S. Nariman, has been appearing on behalf of the State government in the apex court.
In a reply to an unstarred question of Ramalinga Reddy of the Congress, Minister for Water Resources Basavarj Bommai said a sum of Rs. 7,55,68,000 was paid towards advocates’ fees and court expenses since January 2007.
Office expenditure for the Cauvery Water Cell, New Delhi, was Rs. 33.99 lakh, the Minister added.
