Six camera traps placed in Kerekatte wildlife range of Koppa division have been stolen.
The Forest Department had installed them to track the movement of wild animals, particularly tiger. The value of the stolen camera traps has been put at Rs. 94,794.
Forest officials have filed a complaint with the Sringeri police. The officers said the department had installed 49 camera traps in the forests. Among them, six installed between S.K. Border and Valikunja were stolen. The area is also naxal affected.
