The introduction of bus service was on a pilot basis.

The authorities introduced a bus service to take tourists between Gejjala Mantap and Vijaya Vittala temple complex at the Hampi world heritage site on Saturday as most of the battery-operated buggies are not in a good condition.

Of the total 24 buggies, only six or seven are in running condition. The rest needed repairs and maintenance.

Meanwhile, the inflow of tourists to Hampi was more as it was a second Saturday and the very few buggies were inadequate to shuttle them from Gejjala Manatap and Vijaya Vittal temple complex. Official sources informed that the introduction of the bus service was on a pilot basis for the convenience of tourists in view of the shortage of buggies.

The distance between Gejjala Manatap and Vijaya Vittala temple complex is around 1.5 km.

Tourists, to avoid the scorching summer heat, prefer to be ferried in the buggies.
