Bus strike

City bus drivers and conductors went on a snap strike in Belagavi on Monday, alleging that harassment by senior officers had resulted in a colleague dying of heart attack.

M.S. Kagaji, a driver on the Belagavi-Santi Bastawad route, died while on duty on Sunday night after a heart attack. That was because his seniors refused to give him leave and harassed him for no reason, the protesters alleged.

Around 100 staff members gathered at the main depot and decided to strike work on Monday morning. The situation returned to normal in an hour after senior officers held talks with protesters and promised an inquiry.
