In the second phase of the demolition drive, the district administration and the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) will target the buildings which have violated CC (Completion Certificate) norms.
Deputy Commissioner P. Rajendra Cholan told presspersons here on Monday that the second phase of the demolition drive would be launched simultaneously in Hubballi and Dharwad on Thursday.
Complaints have been made on the violation of building norms and encroachment of public land to construct permanent structures in some places.
A four-member committee formed to look into the matter had, in its report submitted to the district administration, identified more than 138 buildings that have violated the norms.
Some of the buildings had come up without obtaining a CC, while some had altered the plan after getting CC without taking permission from the authorities concerned. In a few other cases, the builders had encroached upon government land to expand their building area.
The HDMC and the district administration will initiate stern action by demolishing such buildings and filing criminal cases against their owners, he said.
During the parking space clearance drive, parking space had been opened up in 280 buildings so far. The parking space in the remaining buildings would be cleared in the next two days, Mr. Cholan said. The district administration had listed 389 buildings for encroaching parking space. During the drive, the corporation has cleared more than 2 lakh sqft area for parking, he said.
To a query, Mr. Cholan said that adequate land was available in twin cities for setting up multi-level parking and the project would be brought to the notice of the district in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on May 12. After getting approval from the government, both the cities would get multi-level parking lot, he said.
While some buildings have come up without a Completion Certificate, some have changed plans after obtaining the certificate
