BSP stages protest against Land Acquisition Bill

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) staged a demonstration here on Monday to protest against the Land Acquisition Bill of the Central Government.

The activists took out a protest rally from Silver Jubilee Park to the Deputy Commissioner’s office where they staged the demonstration.

The Land Acquisition Bill would affect poor farmers and it will only help the corporate companies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been favouring the corporate sector and hence the Centre has brought the “anti-farmer” Bill to acquire land from poor people to benefit private companies, BSP leader Krishnamurthy criticised.

According to him, the Land Acquisition Bill would negatively impact the food production in the country.

Bagair hukum

The protestors urged the regularisation of bagair hukum (government lands encroached by people) lands occupied by the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward classes in the State.

Several thousands of farmers have been cultivating Government land throughout the State. The Government should issue title deeds to them, he urged.
