A three-year-old boy died after his neck got stuck in a car window at Doddaginni village in Channarayapatna taluk on Wednesday.

The car, owned by the boy’s uncle, has power windows, according to the Channarayapatna Town police.

The police identified the boy as Rathan, son of Naveen Kumar and Indrani, residents of Dandinashivara in Turuvekere taluk of Tumakuru district.

Visit to farm

The boy, along with his parents, was on a visit to his mother’s village. Umesh, the boy’s uncle, had taken him in the car to his farm. The boy had remained in the car while Umesh had got down.

The police said the power windows of the car raised when as the boy, while keeping his head out, accidentally pressed the door lock button. His neck got stuck in the window.

Umesh, who realised what had happened after a couple of minutes, rushed Rathan to Channarayapatna Taluk Hospital, where the boy breathed his last.
