The district unit of the BJP Yuva Morcha on Wednesday took out a rally from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Chowk to the Deputy Commissioner’s office to protest against the State government’s decision to withdraw 175 cases related to communal violence that took place in the last few years.
BJP Yuva Morcha Kalaburagi rural president Parashuram Nasalwaye and the former minister Revu Naik Belamagi, who led the protest, said that all the 175 cases were against the cadres of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD).
Davangere
The BJP youth wing members staged a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Davangere and alleged that the Congress party in the State was trying to woo the Muslim community by withdrawing the cases that caused the loss of human life and public property, registered against 1,614 persons belonging to these organisations.
“The State government has taken the decision without taking the opinion of the Home Ministry and police departments in the districts concerned,” they said.
Chitradurga
In Chitradurga, members of Akhil Bharat Vidyarthi Parishat staged a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, and alleged that the move of the State government clearly indicated that it could stoop to any level to please its vote bank.
