Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP and BJP candidate from Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha Constituency, along with BJP leaders during a meeting at the party’s election office ahead of him filing his nomination papers in Mangaluru on Monday.

The BJP will fight the Lok Sabha elections on the plank of both development and Hindutva, V. Sunil Kumar, party’s election in-charge for Dakshina Kannada and who is also MLA from Karkala Assembly segment in Udupi district, said here on Monday.

He was addressing the party workers at the election office of the party ahead of Nalin Kumar Kateel filing his nomination papers as the party’s candidate for Dakshina Kannada.

Referring to what some social media posts, Mr. Kumar quoted a Congress candidate as saying that he (the candidate) will ban the Sangh Parivar affiliates, including the Bajrang Dal, if he (the candidate) was elected to power. When the Congress itself could not ban the affiliates when it was in power, how can the candidate alone ban it, Mr. Kumar asked.

He said that the Bajrang Dal units would be formed in every village after the elections and the Hindutva agenda of the party will also continue to be implemented.

Mr. Kumar said that the Opposition parties are forming a mahaghatbandan with the sole objective of opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and keeping him out of power and not for the development of the country.

He said that the senior Congress leader himself said in Mangaluru on Sunday that Mr. Modi will win for the next two terms. Another senior Congress leader Sheela Dixit has also said that Mr. Modi has given good administration, Mr. Kumar said.

Mr. Kumar said that through the Balakot strike the country has proved that it is strong.

Stressing on the need to give a clear mandate in the elections to any political party, he said that the policies and development projects would suffer under coalition governments. He said that the BJP in the State could not form the government as it did not get majority.
