BJP to take out padayatra on Sunday

The Bharatiya Janata Party, on Sunday, will take out a padayatra from Badal Ankalgi to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi to protest against the suicide of sugarcane grower Gurunath Mallappa Chapgaon in the village recently.

State president Prahlad Joshi, MP, Leader of the Opposition Jagdish Shettar, BJP national vice-president B.S. Yeddyurappa, party MPs and legislators, members of panchayat bodies and workers will participate in the padayatra.

State BJP general secretary Nirmal Kumar Surana, who was here to oversee the preparations for the padayatra with the party leaders here on Wednesday, advised the leaders to get in touch with a large number of workers through an ‘SMS’ to organise a strong protest. District BJP president Eranna Kadadi said the padayatra will commence at 11 a.m. and will cover a distance of 14 km.
