BJP seeks resignation of Tangadagi

BJP staged a demonstration in Koppal on Saturday demanding handing over of the alleged murder of Yellalinga, a student, to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and also sought the resignation of Shivaraj Tangadagi, Minister of State for Minor Irrigation and District in-charge.

As part of a State-level protest demonstation, a procession was taken out in the main streets of the city, in which several State-level leaders, including BJP State unit President Prahalad Joshi, the former Chief Ministers B.S. Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar, Leader of opposition in Legislative Council, K.S. Eshwarappa and a large number of party workers participated,

Addressing the party workers, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that those trying to protect the accused in murder case had no moral right to continue in power and urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to immediately drop Tangadgi from the Ministry. “If Mr. Siddaramaiah fails to sack Tangadagi, even the former has no moral right to continue as the Chief Minister,” he said.

In Ballari too, the BJP activists led by Surana, State BJP Secretary, G. Somashekar Reddy, former MLA, staged a protest demonstration demanding resignation of Tangadagi. They also burnt his effigy besides shouting anti-government slogans.

Procession taken out

In Chitradurga, the district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party took out a procession and staged a dharna outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

They took out a procession from Shri Nilkanteshwar Temple which passed through main streets of the city, including Gandhi Circle, Mahaveer Circle, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Circle and Vanaki Obavva Circle, and culminated outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
