BJP rakes up old land deal case to attack CM

The Opposition BJP on Saturday resurrected an old land deal case allegedly involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Yatindra Siddaramaiah, saying the deal exposed “misuse of power” in favour of his former business partner.

It was, however, instantly dismissed by the CM as a “desperate attempt” to tarnish his family ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections.

He said his son would file a defamation case against those raising accusations in connection with a case already dismissed by the courts in 2016. Meanwhile, the Congress circulated copies of the court order, dated April 12, 2016, to bolster its stand.

The State BJP OBC Morcha president B.J. Puttaswamy, at a press conference, said the allocation of 2.19 acres of land adjacent to Hebbal Flyover to Rajesh Gowda, a former business partner of Dr. Yatindra, was an attempt to favour the latter. He produced a 1,500-page document allegedly proving that the entire process was flawed.

When asked later if the party was aware of the case being dismissed at court in 2016, he said they plan to challenge the verdict now.
