BJP leaders disown Minority Morcha vice-president’s statement

December 15, 2014 02:02 pm | Updated 02:02 pm IST - RAICHUR:

Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, Basavanagowda Byagwatt and Trivikram Joshi disowned the recent statement of Amenuddin, the state vice president of BJP’s Minority Morcha.

Amenuddin and district secretary Siraj Ahmed Jafferi had, in a press conference in Raichur recently, alleged that Hindu Jagarana Vedike was involved in forced conversion attempts in Agra and demanded the Union Government to impose a ban on the rightist outfit that, they alleged, was “indulging in extremist activities” to denigrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference at Reporters’ Guild here on Monday, the district BJP president Basavanagowda Byagwatt said that seeking ban on Hindu Jagarana Vedike was the personal demand of the vice president of BJP Minority Morcha and did not reflect his party’s stand.

“We have taken the statement seriously and brought the issue to party’s state leadership. I hope that the party would take suitable disciplinary action against the errant leaders,” he said.
