The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday appealed to the Election Commission to debar Unique Identification Authority of India chairman Nandan Nilekani from contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Bangalore South constituency for alleged violation of model code of conduct.
The BJP filed a complaint before the state Chief Electoral Officer in Bangalore, accusing Mr. Nilekani, who is set to fielded by the Congress, of violating the model code of conduct by continuing to issue media advertisements about his achievements as the UIDAI chief.
