The Bharatiya Janata Party State unit has set a target of enrolling 50 lakh new members during its membership drive to be held from July 6 to August 11.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, BJP State membership drive in charge and MLC N. Ravikumar said about five lakh workers would be involved in this initiative.

The party was also aiming at enrolling two lakh active members, he said, while explaining that one has to enrol 25 normal members to become an active member.

This time, the party was focussing on documentation of membership details for ensuring authenticity. As many as 15,000 full-time volunteers, known as vistharaks , would work from July 23 to 30 to monitor the drive, including documentation process, he said.

Emphasis would be given to reach remote places this time, Mr. Ravikumar said.
