Bidar police crack down on IPL betting

The Bidar police arrested 14 bookies involved in cricket betting in the IPL season, across the district.

During a raid in Basava Kalyan, Rajkumar Tavade, Basavaraj Shashetty and Syed Ismail Noor Khan, were arrested. A TV, three mobiles and Rs. 2.4 lakh were recovered from them.

In Bhalki, Mallikarjun Kudti, Pasha Khan, Balaji Onake and Omkar Panashetty were arrested. A bike, two mobiles and Rs. 72,500 were recovered from them. Aravind alias Gyamoo of Hedgapur is absconding.

In Bidar, Naresh Baburao Shanbhag of Halladkeri, Dayanand Narasingrao Kadage of Jambagi, Gurunath Maruti Baragale of Kumbarwada, Omkar Sidram Gunnalli from Shamsher Nagar, Naresh Neelkanth Biradar, of Jambagi, Mahesh Suryakanth Shetkar of Jambagi, and Anil Kumar Vaijanath Uppar were arrested. Four motor bikes, seven mobiles and Rs. 9,400 were recovered from them.

Appeal to public

SP Sudhir Kumar Reddy has asked the public to intimate him about bookies by calling up his number (9480803401). The identity of informants will be kept secret, he said.
