The Vaccine Institute premises, a bio-diversity site spread over more than 150 acres in Tilakwadi in the city, will have a glass house in nine months.
Announcing this soon after performing bhoomi pooja for the glass house on Tuesday, Small Scale Industries and district in-charge Minister Satish L. Jarkiholi said the government had provided Rs. 1.5 crore for the Rs. 5 crore project. Development of landscapes and public facilities would be taken up in a phased manner.
The bio-diversity of the premises would be protected, he said.
District Health and Family Welfare Officer A.M. Naratti and PWD Executive Engineer Shivanand Hugar were present.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a rally organised on the occasion of World Environment Day and participated in a sapling planting programme near a Globe theatre in the city.
