The Karnataka Unaided Schools Management Association (KUSMA) has urged the government to bear the cost of textbooks, uniforms and other essential items for children admitted under the RTE quota in private unaided schools. Stating that the government reimbursement ceiling of Rs. 11,848 a year for a child admitted to class 1 and Rs. 5,924 a year for a child in pre-school was adequate only for tuition fees, KUSMA, said it would urge member schools to raise additional money from the government. It alleged that government officials were encouraging private schools to disobey the law.
