Basava Samiti founder’s day

The Kalaburagi Basava Samiti will be celebrating the 107th Founder’s Day to mark the birth anniversary of its founder and former Vice-President of India B.D. Jatti here on Tuesday.

Arvind Jatti, State president of Basava Samiti, addressing presspersons here on Monday, said that senior academics Veeranna Dande and Jayashree Dande will be conferred with the Dr. B.D. Jatti Research Award. The award carries a cash prize of ₹ 10,000, along with a citation.

Shivamogga-based writer Jayadevappa Jainkeri would be honoured with Basava Seva Prashashthi for his literary works. Kalaburagi MP Umesh Jadhav would release volumes of Vachanas of 12th Century social reformers and sharanas, translated by Dr. Veeranna Dande and Dr. Jayashree Dande. The former MP Basavaraj Patil Sedam would inaugurate a Basava Samiti website.
