Distributors of the multi-lingual Baahubali-The Conclusion have decided to release the much-awaited film “without disturbing Kannada films, which are doing well both in multiplexes and single screens.”
When Baahubali-The Beginning was released in 2015, producers of Kannada blockbuster Rangitaranga complained to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), accusing producers of Baahubali of removing their Kannada film with scant respect, even when collections were extremely good.
Sudheer of Vasupradha Enterprises, which has taken the distribution rights, told The Hindu that “release of Baahubali-The Conclusion will not affect the prospects of either the running or to-be-released Kannada films. Our first priority is Kannada films, then comes other language films,” he said.
Mr. Sudheer said that though his firm, which has taken the distribution rights on percentage basis, decided to release in maximum number of screens, Kannada film-makers need not have to worry about their films. “Talks are on with the exhibitors and we are planning to release in maximum number of screens,” he said.
Though Vasupradha Enterprises is releasing Telugu, Tamil and Hindi versions of the film, the Telugu version will have a major share. “The plan is to release 90% of the Telugu version; while Tamil and Hindi versions will be screened based on the demography,” he said.
Song goes viral
Meanwhile, a teaser of the song released on Saturday evening is going viral. “Though the teaser was launched at 5 p.m., in just 90 minutes over 2 lakh people watched it across the world. Similar was the response for songs uploaded on jukebox. Over 50 lakh people have listened to each of the five songs in the audio platform,” said Velu of Lahari Recording Company (LRC), which got the audio rights of Tamil and Telugu for a whopping ₹4.5 crore. LRC is panning to release all five songs in full visual form.
