B V Acharya appointed new AG of Karnataka

Senior counsel B V Acharya was appointed the new Advocate General of Karnataka on Saturday, officials said here.

Hailing from Belpur village in Udupi taluk in Dakshina Kannada district, 77-year-old Mr. Acharya will be occupying the post for the fifth time, they said.

A veteran with 54 years of experience as a lawyer, he is also a member of the Law Commission of India.

Mr. Acharya is the first person to be honoured with this membership from the State.
