November 08, 2017 01:24 am | Updated 01:24 am IST - MYSURU

Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysuru, will organise a workshop on November 9 on ‘Inclusive Sustainable Growth: Challenges of Change’.

The workshop is being organised as part of 3rd International Conference on Economic Growth and Sustainable Development that will be held on November 10 and 11.

The workshop is designed specifically to enable research scholars and academicians to identify emerging research issues and gaps in the field of sustainable growth. It gains significance owing to increased research interest in this field, a release said.

Though countries like India or China have been successful in achieving high economic growth in the last few decades, such growth appears to be unsustainable. Further, such growth is not inclusive as benefits do not get distributed equally. In this backdrop, the workshop brings together academics, research scholars and corporate executives to deliberate on the underlined issues, the organisers said.

The workshop will comprise lectures, interactions and panel discussions to discuss factors causing turbulence in the global economic order, consider emerging challenges of growth caused by ‘change factors’, review the framework to sustain the economic growth, debate strategic measures of inclusive growth and bring out emerging research issues relating to sustainable growth.

Resource persons from the industry and academia specialised in the field of sustainability will take part. Dr. Parameshwar P. Iyer, Principal Research Scientist, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, will deliver a talk on sustainability in management of technologies.

Dr. Rangan Varadan, founder and CEO, MicroGraam, will provide insight on the role of micro finance and strategic interventions of Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) in enabling inclusive sustainable growth.

Dr. R. Indira, Rtd. Professor and former Director of International Center, University of Mysore, will share practical experiences on inclusive sustainable development issues of women and marginalised sections of society in the Indian context.

Dr. Brahm Sharma, Director, AIMS Centre of Sustainability, Bengaluru, will discuss the opportunities and challenges of sustainable industrial development for inclusive growth.

Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, director, SDMIMD, Mysuru; Dr. R. Indira and Dr Brahm Sharma will debate emerging research issues in the area of Inclusive Sustainable Growth.
