Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna has said there are no differences in the family about fielding candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections. “We are all committed to party State president H.D. Kumaraswamy’s statement that only two from the family will contest in the polls,” he told presspersons here on Saturday.
Recently Mr. Kumaraswamy had said that except him and his brother — Revanna — none from the family would contest the elections.
Endorsing his statement, Mr. Revanna said, “There are no differences among the family members on this issue. Those expecting infighting within the family on this issue are fools.”
The State wants Mr. Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister because only he can waive farm loans, Mr. Revanna said, adding that the JD(S) will contest all the 224 Assembly seats alone. “We will not have an alliance with any party. We are confident of coming to power on our own,” he said. Mr. Revanna said that several villages in Hassan district have been facing acute shortage of drinking water. The district administration was not responding to the problems faced by rural people, he said. “The State government has to provide at least ₹25 crore immediately to address the needs,” he added.
