The Returning Officer of Bidar South Assembly constituency on Thursday accepted the nomination papers of Congress nominee Ashok Kheny and rejected the objections raised by social activist T.J. Abraham.

Bidar Deputy Commissioner P. Aniruddh Sravan, who is also the District Election Officer, speaking to The Hindu, said that Mr. Abraham had filed an objection to the candidature of Mr. Kheny, who has filed his nomination papers in Bidar South, claiming that Mr. Kheny was not an Indian citizen, that he is not a registered voter in any of the constituencies and NICE with which Mr. Kheny is associated has a subsisting contract with the government.

After scrutinising the nomination papers and verifying the documents certifying his Indian citizenship issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, and the acknowledgements, the Returning Officer overruled the objection and accepted Mr. Kheny’s nomination papers.
