Actor Arjun Sarja on Tuesday moved the High Court of Karnataka alleging that the criminal case booked against him by actor Sruthi Hariharan is “false” with “a clear intention of trickery and as a measure of shielding counter attack to escape from legal actions initiated against her” by him over her allegations of sexual harassment.

“It was absolutely clear that the complaint so filed [by Sruthi] was a fertile concoction of legal brains after much thought and broad improvement from that of Sruthi’s initial long story over her Facebook page,” it has been contended in Mr. Sarja’s petition.

Complaint

It has been claimed in the petition that Ms. Sruthi’s complaint lodged with the police “is clearly an afterthought and a measure to counter attack. Sruthi’s initial complaint on the Facebook page did not contain so many tailor-made narrations, details, and additives that has later surfaced in the complaint lodged.”

“The complaint, in the last portion, claims that she read the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and she has knowledge of what offences the acts of the petitioner did amount to, and hence she insisted for the offences under Section 354, 354A and 509 of the IPC to be registered. This is clearly indicative of the fact that after knowing the lines of the law, the Respondent-2 [Sruthi] designed the complaint with much additional stuff by her own concoction with a goal to substantially offend the petitioner...,” it has been contended in the petition while claiming that “there is absolutely nothing to suggest that Mr. Sarja is seemingly guilty of even a tinge of wrongfulness.”

In his petition, Mr. Sarja has requested the court to stay further action on the First Information Report registered by the Cubbon Park police based on Ms. Sruthi’s complaint, while claiming that any coercive action taken by the police would affect the rights of the petitioner and his dependents.

‘Sruthi’s FB post emerged from U.S., not India’

Actor Sruthi Hariharan’s first Facebook post on the allegations against actor Arjun Sarja “was not made from India but was posted from the U.S.,” Mr. Sarja alleged in his petition.

Claiming that his enquiries via his lawyers and experts have revealed that the Facebook post of Ms. Sruthi was posted from the U.S. while she was in India, Mr. Sarja contended in his petition that “investigations have revealed that his email IDs and social media accounts were cloned, and illegal tagging was done.”

“Facebook post elevated from the U.S. indicate that Ms. Sruthi is working in accompaniment of persons and organisations that are standing by and promoting certain special orientations...,” it has been contended in the petition.
