Stating that the recently released audio clip on the disqualified legislators clearly shows that the BJP was behind the collapse of the previous State government, the Congress staged a protest here on Monday.

Members of various wings/blocks of the party from all taluk centres gathered in front of Sir M. Visvesvaraya statue off Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and raised slogans against Mr. Yediyurappa and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing them of indulging in anti-democratic activities to destabilise the governments led by Opposition parties.

The duo should immediately leave their positions for making arrangements for disqualified MLAs such as chartered flights and stay in Mumbai, the party leaders demanded.

‘Notoriety’

The Chief Minister has gained notoriety for introducing the anti-democratic “Operation Lotus” in the country. Even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders have been encouraging such anti-democratic developments, they added.

Mandya District Congress Committee (MDCC) president C.D. Gangadhar, women’s wing president Anjana, Mandya City Municipal Council (CMC) members T.K. Ramalingaiah and Poornima and others led the protest.
