‘Ambedkar was a walking university’

Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated across the district on Saturday. Students and members of various associations took out a rally in the morning. Folk artists performed along the route.

District officials spoke at a programme held at Dr. Ambedkar Park near Kittur Rani Channamma Circle. IGP Alok Kumar said the department would open rowdy sheets against that those practising untouchability and other atrocities.

Resource person Prabhavai Kanavi spoke of the life and contribution of Dr. Ambedkar. She called him ‘a walking university’ and said his contributions in economics were not as well known as his work in sociology and political science.

Deputy Commissioner S. Ziyaullah, IGP Alok Kumar, police commissioner D.C. Rajappa, ZP CEO R. Ramachandran, SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy and others took part.
