Alok Kumar, Bheemashankar Guled among several IPS officers transferred

In a major reshuffle, the government on Saturday transferred several IPS officers.

Alok Kumar has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime). His name had figured in the interim report submitted by the CID in connection with the lottery scam and he was suspended in 2015, but got a clean chit later. His last posting was as IGP, Northern Range.

Bheemashankar S. Guled, who was transferred from his post of Bengaluru district SP without posting soon after his controversial video with a woman went viral causing major embarrassment to the police, has been posted as SP Railways.

Senior IPS officer Alok Mohan has been transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Railways, Bengaluru. He had the post of ADGP of ACB, Bengaluru.

P.S. Sandhu, has been posted as ADGP and Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety, Bengaluru.

P. Ravindranath, ADGP, Police Computer Wing, Bengaluru, has been transferred and posted as ADGP of Forest Cell, Bengaluru, while Alikana S. Murthy, who held this post before, has been posted as ADGP, Karnataka Lokayukta, Bengaluru. Sanjay Sahay, who was ADGP, Karnataka Lokayukta, has been posted as ADGP, Police Computer Wing, Bengaluru.

Other transfers include, N. Satheesh Kumar, DIG and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bengaluru, who has been posted as DIGP, Karnataka State Reserve Police, Bengaluru; DIGP, Intelligence, Bengaluru, Sandeep Patil has been posted as DIG and Joint Commissioner of Police, CAR , Bengaluru; P.S. Harsha, who was awaiting a posting is now DIGP, Prisons, Bengaluru; K.T. Balakrishna, who was waiting for a posting is now SP, Intelligence (Administration), Bengaluru; P. Rajendra Prasad has been posted as SP, Wireless, Bengaluru in the vacant post.

Ida Martin Marbaniang has been brought in to the city as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic West Division) . Similarly, Ram Nivas Sepat, DCP (Crime), Bengaluru, has been posted as SP, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), Bengaluru; while his posting has been given to S. Girish, who was SP ACB, Bengaluru.

K.V. Jagadish, SP, Special Task Force and Vigilance, BDA, has been posted as DCP (Traffic East Division), while Anupam Agarwal who held this posting has been transferred without any posting.

G. Rashika, who was awaiting a posting is now AIGP (General), DGP office, Bengaluru; while Hanumantharaya, DCP (Law and Order), Mangaluru, has been posted as SP, Yadgir district. A.N. Prakash Gowda, SP and Director, Security and Vigilance, BMTC, has been transferred and posted as SP, Hassan District; while R.K. Sahapurwad, who held this post has been transferred without any posting. N. Chaithra, SP, Railways, Bengaluru, has been posted as SP, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, Bengaluru.

Discontent over transfer

Congress legislators reportedly opposed the transfer of several senior officers by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. The issue is expected to be raised at a meeting on Sunday to be held by AICC General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka K.C. Venugopal with party leaders. City MLAs reportedly expressed their anguish at former CM Siddaramaiah’s failure to safeguard party interests.
