Even amidst apparent discontent brewing between them, the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance came to power in the Tumakuru city corporation.

Lalitha Ravish from the JD(S) and Roopa from the Congress were unanimously elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively, of the city corporation on Wednesday.

The Tumakuru City Corporation has 35 councillors. Out of this 12 councillors are from the Bharatiya Janata Party, 10 from the Congress, and 10 from the JD(S).

After the murder of former mayor and councillor Ravi Kumar, the JD(S) has nine councillors now.
