'AIISH centres best example of use of communication tools for learning'

The virtual classrooms developed by the Mysuru-based All-India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) at eleven centres across the country are the best examples of the use of communication tools for learning, said T.V. Venkataram, Principal General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Mysuru.

Inaugurating a workshop on ‘Information and Communication Technology’ organised by the AIISH here on Saturday, he said AIISH has been effectively using state-of-the-art technologies for years and BSNL took pride in being the connectivity partner to the institute’s programs for the last nine years.

Mr. Venkataram, who delivered the keynote address on the topic ‘Communication systems in ICT’, emphasised that the present world of learning is web-centred and hence information and communication technology formed the backbone of learning process.

Dr. S.R. Savithri, Director, AIISH, in her presidential address, highlighted that the field of speech and hearing was equipment intensive and hence it was essential for students and professionals in the field to have a sound knowledge of ICT tools.About 100 participants including students and professionals in the field of speech and hearing attended the workshop.
