Janata Dal (S) State president A.H. Vishwanath suffered a mild heart attack on Saturday at an event in Hyderabad. His condition is stable now and he is being brought to Bengaluru for further treatment at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences.

Mr. Vishwanath, who was in Hyderabad to attend a Kuruba community event, was rushed to a private hospital there after he complained of uneasiness. Jayadeva Institute director C.N. Manjunath, who is in touch with the doctors there, said his condition was stable now.

The veteran politician has had blockages in the arteries for the past eight years. He has undergone angiogram twice at Jayadeva, and one procedure was done just nine months ago, the doctor said. “As his arteries are very narrow, there was no scope for doing any stenting procedure or preform angioplasty. He is being brought to the institute and we will take a call on surgery after observing his condition,” Dr. Manjunath said.
