more-in

Aequs, which specialises in precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, forging, and special processing for the aerospace, automotive, and oil & gas industries, has acquired the France-based SiRA Group to further extend the reach of its global aerospace ecosystem. The new company will be part of Aequs Aerospace holdings in France.

Aravind Melligeri, Chairman and CEO of Aequs, in a press release issued here on Wednesday, said the acquisition strengthened Aequs’ ability to deliver ‘increasing value’ to its European customers.

The SiRA Group, operating across five sites, offered expertise in precision machining, assembly, testing of engine, landing gear, and aircraft actuation components, as well as welding and fabrication of aircraft assemblies. Key customers of the new company include Dassault, Safran (multiple divisions), and United Technologies Aircraft Systems.

The acquisition brings highly complementary capabilities to Aequs’ global aerospace ecosystem along with opportunities to strengthen and expand relationship with key customers in Europe, said Walt Sirmans, Aequs Aerospace President.

Xavier Dessemond, Purchasing Vice-President, Safran, said SiRA was a long-time supplier of Safran. With this acquisition, Aequs became a key partner of Safran, providing it access to a global industrial footprint and a strong presence in India.

Alain Blévin, majority shareholder and President of SIRA Group, said: “This is a strategic step that will significantly enhance the future growth of the SIRA operating units.”

Aequs specialises in precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, forging, and special processing for the aerospace, automotive, and oil & gas industries. Customers include Airbus, UTAS, Eaton, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and Bosch. The Aequs manufacturing facilities are located in Bengaluru, Belagavi, and Houston. The Belagavi facilities are located in Aequs SEZ near Hattargi, 35 km from Belagavi city on the Pune-Bengaluru NH4, which was India’s first precision engineering special economic zone.
