Additional grants for bypoll-bound Hirekerur

November 07, 2019 11:28 pm | Updated 11:28 pm IST - Haveri

In what appeared to be an election campaign, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Thursday promised additional grants for development of Hirekerur, which is bound for byelection. He had earlier initiated development works at a cost of ₹120 crore pertaining to Hirekerur and Rattihalli taluks at a public function held at the taluk stadium.

In a bid to pacify supporters of the former MLA U.B. Banakar (who is a BJP ticket aspirant for the bypoll) and also of disqualified MLA B.C. Patil (who is expected to be fielded by the party, subject to the Supreme Court judgment), Mr. Yediyurappa likened them to his two eyes and said he would ensure that there would be no injustice to Mr. Banakar.

He also called on BJP workers to work in unison so that no other party was able to stand up against them in the constituency.

₹100 cr. for Haveri

At Haveri, he announced grants of ₹100 crore to the flood-affected district for taking up infrastructure development works, including repair of flood-ravaged roads, bridges, and public properties.
