The city police has decided to install additional CCTV cameras at sensitive locations in the city to monitor law and order during Dasara.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), H.T. Shekar, told The Hindu that 44 CCTV cameras will installed at Mysuru Palace and Hardinge Circle, besides the route of the Dasara procession, covering Chamaraja Circle, K.R. Circle, Sayyaji Rao Road, Ayurvedic College Circle, Old RMC Circle, Highway Circle, Nelson Mandela Road and Bannimantap grounds.
The cameras will be installed in addition to the existing cameras at Mysuru Palace and various traffic junctions along the route of the procession.
A private agency has been entrusted with the task of fixing the cameras and providing the police with the footage.
The CCTV cameras will function from September 10 till the conclusion of the Dasara festivities.
Meanwhile, additional police force has been requisitioned for the purpose of beefing up security during Dasara festival.
The first batch of 500 police personnel will be arriving in the city before Dasara.
Later, another batch of 1,500 to 2,000 personnel will be reaching the city during the festival.
