As part of ruling BJP’s efforts to encourage organic farming among ryots, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yedyurappa will stay at a farmer’s house in a village in Mudhol taluk in the district and interact with them, on Saturday.

The entire village of Shirol has been spruced up to facilitate a day-long stay tomorrow by Yeddyurappa at the house of Somalingaiah Sirganachari who has been practicing organic farming on his fields.

A large contingent of officials including Zilla Panchayat CEO G.C. Prakash, who is now in charge District Deputy Commisioner, along with Superintendent of Police Abhishekh Goyal have been camping here overseeing arrangements for the Chief Minister’s stay.

During his stay, Yeddyurappa will interact with farmers on organic farming, which his government has been trying to encourage, official sources said.

This is the first ever stay by Yeddyurappa in a farmer’s house in the last two years, after he became Chief Minister.

JDS leader H.D. Kumaraswamy began the practice of “night stay in the house of a villager” when he was the Chief Minister, a programme that brought him vast publicity, besides popularity.
