Two die as train hits vehicle

Two persons travelling in a four-wheeler died after their vehicle was hit by a train engine while crossing an unmanned crossing near Kittanakere near Dudda in Hassan taluk on Tuesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Raghavendra (28), and Anand (22), both natives of Dudda. The two friends were crossing the railway track in a Scorpio when the engine hit their vehicle and dragged the four-wheeler for a few metres. While Anand died on the way to a hospital, Raghavendra, who was driving the car, succumbed to injuries later in the hospital. Raghavendra is survived by parents, wife and a 10-month baby. Anand, son of Subbe Gowda, was unmarried.

The Dudda police reached the spot after the incident. The Railway police have booked the case.
