Two-day visit to Hassan

A team from the Union Government, headed by J. Shrivastava, Additional Secretary of Agriculture Department, will undertake a two-day visit to Hassan district to study the drought situation there.

Anuradha, from NITI Ayog, and V. Mohan Murali, of the Water Resources Department will be part of the team. According to a communiqué from the Hassan district administration, the team will reach Hassan by Saturday afternoon and visit some places there. On Sunday, the team will visit Belur taluk.

Arsikere taluk

Deputy Commissioner V. Chaitra conducted a meeting with people’s representatives and district-level officers regarding the visit on Thursday. Arsikere MLA K.M. Shivalinge Gowda stressed upon the need to take the team to Arsikere taluk, citing that the taluk was worst-hit by the drought.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer R. Venkatesh Kumar suggested that the team should be shown the maximum number of places within the available time.
