Unidentified miscreants robbed a truck transporting iron rods late night on Thursday near Arabhikottanur Gate on the Bengaluru-Chennai stretch of National Highway 75.

The robbers who came on a motorbike stopped the vehicle which was going from Bengaluru towards Mulbagal and allegedly sprayed chilli powder on the face of driver Jaffer and tied him to a tree. They fled away with the truck with iron bars worth several lakh rupees. Jaffer later freed himself and alerted police by reaching a nearby petrol station.

Acting upon the information, the police started a search for the culprits. During the operation they found the vehicle abandoned at Seepur tank area.
